DESCRIPTION:

The Spika Drover Pack has some serious features and has been put through its paces in Australia, New Zealand, and North America – all with their own harsh and unforgiving terrain. The Drover Pack is for the outdoorsman that wants to go in light and come out heavy. Large enough to carry supplies for overnight pursuits and day expeditions the Drover 40L & 80L are great packs. The ability to expand this pack out to its full capacity or remove the hood and go ultralight make it highly adaptable. The front stash pocket can house a spotter and other essential gear while the main compartment is accessed by a full-length front zipper or traditional top load opening.

  • Weight Distribution System
  • Adjustable Height
  • Adaptive Lumbar Support
  • Meat Shelf Frame
  • Articulated Stays
  • Load Adjusters
  • Hip Pouch Pockets

“The Drover Pack and Frame is absolutely amazing. I have used this pack recently to haul out a decent whitetail buck in the Appalachian mountains. The terrain is tough and the hunting tougher. During our early season the Drover hauled out a 250lb black bear, broken down into game bags. My wife asked me to bring home the buck whole one time so my two year old, who loves hunting, could see the deer. I threw the entire deer in the beaver trail flap, sealed up the pack, and hiked out a little over a mile; mostly hill. The Drover handled the odd load amazingly and I just wanted to say thanks. I’ve been telling everybody about your packs. I won’t be using any other packs!”

Husband took on a bear hunt to Idaho! He loved it very roomy.

I haven’t had a chance to take the pack into the mountains yet, but when I opened it up yesterday it looked incredible. The bag seems durable, plenty of storage and has great support on the back. Will be back to give my opinion after the elk hunt this next month.

I was very skeptical while researching this bag. Not much info on this bag particularly in the USA. My son has begged me to get a framed meat packing bag. He has owned Mystery Ranch and is currently using an Exo bag (which he loves). My wife gave me the green light to order an Exo bag. But, couldn’t pull the trigger being $300-400 more. My son made fun of me when I told him I ordered this bag. When it arrived he spent 20 minutes trying to find something wrong with it. Finally, he says, Hmm, looks solid. After making a few adjustments for fitting, we threw some weight in it and took off to set up our game cameras. Though, I will admit, I have never personally used a high end USA brand. But, after the two mile hike this bag was by far the best thing I have ever strapped to my back. It was amazing how all the weight was off my shoulders. I almost forget it was there. A week later we went back up to check the cams. Not disappointed! Though, I was about the lack of elk pics. I strongly recommend. I really think this bag is going to make a big push in the states. I will update after a season of hunting. Hunt on!

I purchased this for a CO elk hunt and mam did it do the truck. 40l version was perfect for day to 2 day hikes. Rain cover came in handy and the frame is very supportive and comfortable.

  5. Michael Carter (verified owner)

I used this pack on an elk hunt this year. Carried it as a day pack for 13 days of hunting and packed out my elk along with 3 others for buddies during that time. I carried over 100lbs on the pack outs and the pack performed perfectly.

  6. Brandon O (verified owner)

Super nice pack! Really versatile and adjustable. Comfortable. Padding is placed perfectly. Quality stitching and plenty of features. Really impressive for the price compared to other name brands. Probably as good or better than most main brands out there!

I hunt in the NorthEast and have been looking at packs for a while, dragging out isn’t always ideal or even an option sometimes. This pack is a phenomenon, as adjustable and comfortable as any hiking pack I’ve used, just a heavier construction, for me 40L covers needs from a cinched in day pack to a very full overnight. (As of 11/21) If you watch their video they make it look like theres a complicated reweaving of straps that needs to happen to seperate/join the bag and “meat shelf”, rest assured that method has been replaced with buckles. Have only tested meat hauling with kids and sand bags but I have no doubt it’ll serve quite well.

Use this for my 2 mile ruck to work with clothes and weights in it. Really good quality for the price. Liked the long narrowness of the bag part, the internal (really is external I think) rigid spine, over-built strong straps, and that it’s made to carry a lot of weight well spread out on the hips and shoulders. I modified it slightly to carry regular gym weights on the meat shelf by rearranging the shelf to go inside the bag and then reattached the top of the bag on top so it looks about the same as it does in the photo. Did also replace the four plastic clips of the meat shelf with locking 1 1/2 inch metal carabiners because the original plastic ones came undone a few times. Really like the setup and have been using for a year now for a good easy workout. Usually just use 35 lbs of weights cause I’m doing it 4-5 days a week, 4 miles each time. Strange use perhaps but this pack with its low profile external frame seems preferable to the other ridiculously expensive hunting packs, the usually much larger and more military looking army packs that have solid frames, and also the expensive purpose-built rucking packs with proprietary weights to buy and that all seem to lack a frame to share the load between your shoulders and waist.

I got this Bag for my next Elk hunting trip. 40L Bag has plenty of room for a 5+ days hunt. Bag is very comfortable and adjustable. We compared it to my friends KUIU and BadLand Bags and this bag is half the price and with all the extra bells than the Big brands have, ranking at the same level and quality. I used already for 30mi+ hikes and it holds pretty good. I’m really impress on the quality. Haven’t haul any meat yet but I dont see having any problem with it.

  10. Theodore G Wasko III (verified owner)

Super comfortable packed it around the mountains with 30lbs in it and I didn’t even get tired!

While planning a European honeymoon (3 weeks) I decided to purchase this pack as I would get more use out of it hunting as well as opposed to just luggage. Fit great as a checked bag and was underweight with just my clothing.

Great pack. Very big. Very sturdy. Very adjustable. Many tie-downs so it doesn’t feel clumsy while walking/hiking.

I cant wait to take this baby out hunting. I feel like I could easily pack everything I need for camp and beyond with this pack. Plus it will hold your Bow/Gun. You could easily pack out a ton of meat with this thing. The limit will be how much can you carry not how much will the 80l pack hold.

  12. Spika Customer (verified owner)

I don’t do reviews, but for this pack I felt like it was necessary. I archery hunted elk in southwest Colorado. The mountains are rugged and these packs didn’t even seem bothered. I got the 80L and the 40L for my wife. We hiked every day we went out and had plenty of room for gear, food and water. They are VERY comfortable, we could have had them on all day. The padding is great, the adjustments are easy, and the rain fly is great. There are only 2 things I would point out. The hip pockes on the belt are difficult to operate one handed, I took one off and put my sidearm there. The other is the gun sling doesn’t accommodate a bow cam real good but I was able to make it work. Overall, I would recommend this pack to anyone, infact my buddy and his son bought them as well and don’t have any complaints.

I finally got to fully test the item and got a full green white tail and I was able to quarterand pack it all in one shot I was skeptical that it wouldn’t hold but I had over 100 pound in or on this pack and the only thing that qas having a hard time was me the hardest part is getting the pack on your shoulders when it’s on the ground and over 100lbs and all the blood washes out nice and looks brand new I have alot of spika packs even 25 l but for packing out meat or multi day hunt you want this and it’s so much cheaper then some packs out there like stone glaciers. This year I am even buying 80l for next year’s elk hunt

This pack easily stands up to the best out there. It is well thought out and solidly built. I have some high-end packs, and this gets used more. Used 2 seasons now and everything works and held up just fine. Love the meat loading shelf design. At 1/2 the cost of others, it is a bargain. This is a case of getting more than what you paid for. Thank U Spika,

  15. Ethan (verified owner)

Yea, this is an amazing pack, you will probably never have to replace it, it is solid, well build and the design is great; minus a couple small details, my only issue is it is a little heavier then the other high performance pack in is size range. However. I would definitely recommend this pack. It is solid and has all the features you could ever need.

This is basically an EXO mountain pack without the EXO price. Purchased the 80L for back country native fishing and Elk hunting.

  17. Julain (verified owner)

I’ve been searching for good hiking backpacks for a couple of months now that are 80L/+ and now compete garbage. All the ones I saw had pretty fair written reviews but a quick YouTube search proved that once in action held up poorly all except this one, now I haven’t used it yet but it is made of very good material and I’m more than impressed plus for the price I couldn’t be happier either, well worth it to me

  18. Marc moeller (verified owner)

First impression appears to be very well built and well thought out. Better than expected and reasonably priced.

  19. Simeon Witmer (verified owner)

    Good pack for the price

very fast pack for getting your gear in / out without tearing everything apart. the quality is apparent you won’t outlive this bag. purchased bino carrier as well. makes a perfect combo

  21. Jose (verified owner)

    Great pack for hunting

  22. george meaden (verified owner)

Good backpack for hunting. Would have given it a 5 star if it only had a few more pockets to store the small things.

  23. Keith (verified owner)

Comfortable and well designed. Did exactly what u need it to do.

  24. Frostpatrol (verified owner)

Value and well built, works great

  25. Spika Customer (verified owner)

Bought the smaller of the 2 packs for my elk hunting trip. I do like the look and the quality of the pack. The fit seems to be nice. I haven’t had any issues with the pack comfortabilty wise. I’m 6’3 and it adjusted nicely. The only knock would be that it could use more pockets for storage. Overall a good product for that you pay.

  26. Kyle Kelsey (verified owner)

This is a great pack. I had been looking for a new backpack for a while now and came across this one and did my research on it and liked the features it has and the price versus the competition couldn’t be beat. I look forward to using it for many years to come.

  27. Jeff Owens (verified owner)

I liked this backpack at first, but the male snap on the waist belt broke in the middle of my hunt. Without the waist belt taking part of the weight, it all rides on your shoulders. A previous review said they had the same issue and they sent a replacement but I am not receiving the same customer support. They acknowledge the requests but do nothing.

    **Update**
Good customer support as they have sent me a replacement waist belt and some extra parts!

The Spika 40L Drover Hauler is the perfect pack for day hunting. The adjustable suspension provides comfortable light and heavy load. The top and front fill options make for effective access to storage and for loading. The integrated rainfly and rifle slings with their dedicated storage improves the utility for this pack. Although I haven’t owned it log enough to comment on durability, the build looks like it will last many years and pack many deer.

  29. John D (verified owner)

Well made and super high quality pack. Used it on a few hunts this season, and I have zero complaints.

  30. Tasha (verified owner)

If you are in need of a hunting bag, this bag will fulfill your needs and expectations. It has lots of pockets, heavy duty, light weight and best of all it won’t break your bank by purchasing it.

  31. jayson sulser (verified owner)

6 day elk hunt! The 80l fit all my gear and was comfortable the whole hunt. It has been a great pack. Bought the 60l bag from spika.us and it works great on the same frame. Rain cover works great pockets are big so i got some smaller bags for my kill kit and emergency gear. Tough as nails stuff from spika and its quiet no squeaky joints like the badlands. Should last for years and years.

  32. E morris (verified owner)

It had way more pockets than I was expecting! I love that it has the capability to carry a rifle

  33. Spika Customer (verified owner)

It’s a quality pack for the money. The fact that it’s a meat hauler as well makes it even beter.

  34. humangenome (verified owner)

First off, I haven’t packed meat with this pack yet ( bc I didn’t killnan elk last year) but I have weighted it down for hikes and back country trips. It fits great for its price point. I did a few mods but nothing big. I raised the load lifters up to the next loop for more angle. Blacked out the orange stitching and ordered black zipper pulls. I also added an Eberlestock stuff pouch towards the back of each side on the belt. I also got the bino and extra straps for it. The bino seems a bit bulky and heavy but it’s not bad.
To be fair, I have the Eberlestock mainframe and all the accessories and prefer the fit, weight, gun carrier vs scabbard, padding, and load lifters of this Drover pack. It just fits nice! I really wanted to like the mainframe over the Drover hence all the accessories for it but the load lifters are flat, it’s heavy, the scabbard is too tight with a bag zipped over it, and you can’t reach back and rip it out as needed and bulky and less padding in the straps than the Drover. I don’t like it as much even with all the goodies.
I also have a Nimrod pack that is sweet. My fave for quick hunts or just quick back to get something to haul the meat out vs packing it. It’s not set up for that just pursuit. It also has a great scabbard that minimal but holds the gun at an angle just over a shoulder for easy reach over and be on point. I will try a Safari along with it this year. Should be good. However, if I end up going deep the the Drover is next in line.
